Mind Over Matter
August 15, 2007 by Shirley Allard
Somewhere in reality
Existing in a dream
Facing the finality
The obvious extreme
Entertaining every notion
To erase the very thought
Of the ocean of emotion
That precipitates the plot.

great plot line… very well put - some us only wish that we could put that much into stanzas like yours. thanks
Thanks Harry. You pack plenty of punch into your own work! Shirley
this is me ,, in a nutshell… so lost in yesterday i fail to see tomorrow or live today…..
Hi Jodi, That is truly sad as I am of the philosophy that all we have is today. Yesterday is the lesson we live by but it’s gone and tomorrow is merely a figment of our imaginations. So, try to live one day at a time or you’re missing all that is real…that’s where it’s at. Take Care, Shirley
I particularly liked the alliteration of “ocean of emotion”… it reminded me of the old saying, “It matters little the size of the boat, the real concern becomes the motion of the ocean.” In a strange way, this, too, would seem to be ‘mind over matter’… if you don’t mind–then it don’t matter. heh heh heh
PS– it’s a damned fine poem, too; as everyone who reads it will realize and, in all probability, point out. Magnefique!
Only you, Bob, only you! Thanks!
Oh, Shirley, this one is truly special. It touches on a common thread amongst humanity, that of turning a blind eye to the river of turmoil coursing thru each of us.
Oh, Oz, I do love your eloquent comments. You make me feel like a real poet…thanks!
