Storm Chasers
August 30, 2007 by Shirley Allard
It was a dark and stormy night, unplanned
The elm was creaking with the howling wind
Our hearts were keeping rhythm with the band
The moon escaped behind a cloud and grinned
What force could be so deviant, so strong
To blow the tiles atop the roof so far
And land on rooftops where they don’t belong
Then suddenly, the moon winked at the star
Come out and play! Let’s chase the storm away
I’ll light the way for making stars appear
The storm will cease; return another day
For now we’ll chase the rainbow’s end my dear.

A very ‘Halloweenish’ ambience to this piece, very forbodeing, until the last five lines, when the moon does its due diligence and restores order. I can feel the autumn… great rhythm and pace, excellent work!
Thanks Bob. All’s well that ends well!
well shirley…. you got a lot more mileage out of this prompt than i ….excellent take…
Thanks Jodi, I tend to write about storms quite often…it was a natural I guess.
Wonderful! Vivid images and a bit of story-telling.
thanks Jo!
