Quantitative Inheritance
September 25, 2007 by Shirley Allard
Like fish, we swim against life’s stream
distracted by our hopes and dreams
blind to innate memories
passed through time genetically.
We stake our claims prophetically
as the masters of our destiny.
Unlike the fish the upward slopes
that drain their spirits fuel our hopes
while visions, omens and instinctual signs
are channeled through our idle minds.
All disregarded, we’re more inclined
to believe we’ve lived a thousand times.
Nature’s wisdom’s very clear
We live just once but while we’re here
we add our scrap of brilliancy
to a cache of familial memory.
A thousand years of history
Passed through time, genetically.

This poem seems to be mostly composed of assertions. If you are trying to make a case against reincarnation you should consider doing so with examples and images. Show rather than tell. Keep writing!
Yes, it is. Every now and then my brain goes wandering. Thanks for reading.
Assertions or no assertions, the piece is rhythmic and sensate. I hope poets are not soon expected to confine their feelings to the scrutiny of scientific method to attain validity.
I agree with you. If anyone needs validity they can consult Jung! Thank you, Bob.
