From first line to last, you keep revealing truths that can get lost in the song. Isn’t that the purpose of most music, ‘to foster our delusions’? This piece made me immediately think of Ray Charles. Whose music better than his to compete with our grand illusions? This is wonderful, Shirley, capable of invoking comment and conversation on several different planes… just like the music itself.
this is so beautiful… i wish i had written it myself… i love it!!!!
Thanks Guys. Glad you enjoyed my joyful noise!
Like Jodi, I wish I’d written this, too!
Thanks Jo…maybe you did! I probably read it on your blog!
I love the juxtaposition of the picture with the poem. The poem stands alone, quite beautifully, and contains simple but enormous truth. Thanks.
Thank you! I enjoyed your work as well. ~Shirley
