What Goes On Under a Woman’s Hat?

Portrait of a Woman in a Large Hat
by Amedeo Modigliani
This is most entertaining.
Did I remember to turn the oven off?
Great show!
I hope my mascara is holding up.
Oh, beautiful move!
I must remember Bobby’s practice is tomorrow at four.
Now, that is a beautiful song.
I do hope my absence at work today didn’t cause too much confusion.
What? It’s over already?
Why is it I feel like I missed something?
I must remember to take out something for dinner tomorrow evening and stop at the market on my way home and…
Encore!
I really must get home and balance that checkbook.
It was good to get away from it all for a bit! I do hope the gentleman behind me could see around my hat…I wonder if I remembered to…

Oh this is precious! LOL. So true! I love it, Shirley!
Get away from it all? Sounds to me like she’s still there… ha! Oh, and… as the guy sitting behind you, thanks for putting up an obstacle to the crap taking place on stage that my wife dragged me to… I needed a nap. LOL
Nice one, Shirley… very original.
Thanks Jo. Being a woman you know the feeling! That internal to-do list is always active!
And you Bob. The fact that she was still there was the whole point! Our minds are never free to enjoy the moment. It’s just one of the many trials and tribulations of being a woman…Woe is me! You’re welcome for the hat…next time I’ll bring an umbrella! Thanks.
awesome writing! very intelligent
funny comment as well bob
for ever preoccupied with life… yes,, hat or no hat,, that is indeed a woman…..
I realize this is a bit ‘o “tongue in cheek” but how sad. If true, what an egregious life. To never get to enjoy a moment? Truly sad.
Thanks everyone! This should have been a poem but every time I looked at that painting she looked so distracted and this is what came out of it for me. Funny, even as I was writing it I found myself thinking of things I should’ve been doing instead!
Very unique…and sadly quite accurate I believe.
