Willow

Two hands join as side by side
They walk the wooded trails
Naively on a mountainside
As daylight slowly fails.
Coddled embers dance by night
Ascending ever higher
Past grassy knolls to moonlit height
They tend a growing fire.
Mossy turf prepares a bed
Twined roots an awkward pillow
No stone unturned, they languidly learn
Of love, beneath the willow.
