Sparks

When stumbling into foreign land
without a clue, much less a plan
No one else need feel remorse
for those who choose a wayward course
Though well meant gestures oft inspire
a wayward spark can fuel the fire.

I sure like the sound of this, even if the inspiration for it is a mystery to me. As usual, your rhythm and meter are impeccable.
Nice… Makes me want to go wander off the beaten path… to see where I might wind up.
I use to do that when I was a teen… walk my dog in the woods… go off into the brush… see how long it took us to find our way out to the other side. We always made it… maybe some muddy shoes and a few pricker scratches along the way… but, still much cooler and more fun than the main path ever was.

Our apathy fuels that fire - when we were all looking away, someone picked up the deadwood and set it ablaze… nice one, I really liked your images. thanks - a fan
your full of ideas shirl…..
how old are you?
Thanks, Harry. Get out the marshmallows!
Gerald, you make me laugh. I’m actually 29 but I look a little older than that so I tell people I’m 53!
Samantha, Thank you too! I love to wander through the woods myself – only got lost once but it was enough.
BAM! Now there is a nail hit squarely on the head.
Thanks, Oz…ouch!
you just never know.. sometimes i feel more is accomplished by standing back than fanning the flames… this was wonderful shirley….
I must say reading your work is a nice way to excuse myself from reality for a bit of the day to sit and think about your great poetry
Oh, you are so young shirl..
but you know what, as i read your work..
as if i was reading a famous literary pillar. ~_^

Thanks Jodi. I guess it depends on whether you want fire or smoke! LOL
Hi Chuck, Oh, Charles sounds so official! Congrats on your new site and thank you for all your beautiful comments!
Hi Gerald, “A Famous Literary Pillar”…I’ll settle for that. As far as Middle earth goes…I prefer being on the surface! Thank you.
