Gone But Not Forgotten
May 5, 2008 by Shirley
The universe, adorned with stars and light
Can captivate, we marvel at the glare.
Wishing on them in despair; not completely unaware
That our eyes take pleasure and delight
In stars that are not there.
Though space has claimed the stars of night
It somehow missed the show of light
That glows no matter how we try
To tell ourselves the light’s a lie.
To see the distant from afar
Is to keep the wish, if not the star.

Glad to see you return, Shirley. I really like the last two lines.
Hey Shirley, just checking in to see how your doing.
So,
ummmm
How ya doin?
Hi Dan. This is something I wrote a long time ago but thanks.
Hey Oz, I ummm…
I don’t know!
How you doin?
What a nice thought… it’s comforting to think that those lights who’ve left us continue to shine and will one day be seen again. Thanks for this, Shirley.
You’re most welcome…Thank you!
I love those last two lines, too! Amazing poem, Shirley!
Wow! Look how wordpress puts little designs in when we don’t have icons. That one looks like my brain when I’m storming. Zzzzzzt! lol.
Thanks Jo. This is one of my favorites. I know what you mean…my site is beginning to look like a patchwork quilt! I don’t have a clue when that started or why but that’s quite a brainstorm you got going on there!
