I heard a voice that echoed from afar
a whisper in my ear that spoke of you
it told me of the kind of man you are
and wondered if you ever really knew
that in one heart you were a shining star
whose brightness could be matched by very few.
In you the best of her will always live –

Mere words alone
will never do
I shed a thousand
tears for you
Be strong, my friend
as teardrops land
In my heart of hearts
I hold your hand.

It could have been a rock star
Like Steve Tyler on the line
Or that handsome hunk George Clooney
Who sends chills right up my spine
But of all the folks it ‘could’ve’ been
I was much more thrilled to find
The voice was that of one dear friend
Transcending space and time.

Jeune Fille Vert by Tamara de Lempicka
Beyond the Spotlights
The green silk hugged her form like shrink wrap on a piece of prime rib and the rigidness in her pose suggested that moving was not an option. Her body was on the set but was her mind in sync with the folds of luxurious [...]

The stone sits idly by the rose
As petals fall and decompose
Waiting for the warmth and light
To thaw its heart and kill the blight
But roses have a season’s pass
While stones are hardy – built to last
And as the sun shines on the two
The rose will fade, as roses do
But roots have crept beneath the ground
Where stones [...]

Sudden Departure
before I go
I’ll leave for you
two roses on the table
and though such sadness
fills your face
I’ve seen your wisdom, wit and grace
and know
that you’ll be able
to understand it must be so
though I love you more
than you could know
I’ll leave for you
before I go
two roses on the table.

I climbed the hill
to see the mill
When suddenly
I took a spill
My camera flew
my ankle grew
I concluded in the end, the view
Looked better
from the bottom – phew!
Who put that tree there anyway?

Some think they’re beautiful
Some think they’re ugly
Any thoughts on the subject?
Hand in Hand

We’ve walked together
hand in hand
as our family tree has grown
We’ve shared the hardships
heart to heart
and never cried alone
We’ve grown much wiser
side by side
together all the while
While taking time out
day by day
to make each other smile
And when our time on earth
has passed
my Love, we shall not part
We’ll walk together
hand in hand
forever – heart to heart.

Great waves
Rush to the shore
Flooding me with wonder
Only to leave me and the sand
Thirsty.
