Midstream

Crossing rivers to distant shores
Warm waters seep from reservoirs
Standing midstream, caught up in the motion
I close my eyes to hear the ocean
Willing waves to turn the tide
To nurture seeds of flowers denied

If You Should Fall

If You Should Fall
When you were just a baby
I’d try to anticipate your every move
Following you around with arms outstretched
Always ready to catch you

If you should fall

A Christmas Wish

I hope your world is filled with light

Alone is the fowl

Suddenly Silent

Suddenly Silent
Trails stretch on before me
I wander through the silence
Sounds of leaves caressing trees
replacing those of violence.
Ground gives perfect camouflage
To hide a basking snake
I savor each last summer breeze
That autumn soon will take.
Summer sun and growing shade
Combine for day’s perfection
Crossing bridges crudely made
to capture its reflection.

Cure

When demons plague you
Draw that sword
And offer up a just reward
You’ll never rectify their blindness
So kill them softly
With acts of kindness.
